One managed flow from lighting spec to site

Upload the fixture schedule. SuppLux parses it, matches every line to verified products with the best alternate first, turns the set into a quote and a submittal package, and manages supply to the job site.

Short answer

SuppLux is a managed marketplace for commercial lighting. Instead of re-keying a fixture schedule into spreadsheets and chasing cut sheets, you upload the spec. SuppLux’s AI turns it into one structured record, matches each line to a verified product (with the strongest alternate shown first), and a lighting specialist checks the result before it becomes a quote and a submittal package. We then manage ordering and delivery to site.

Key takeaways

  • Four stages, one record: Spec → Match → Quote & submittal → Deliver.
  • AI does the reading and matching; a person reviews every match before it reaches a client.
  • Built around custom linear lighting, the category where specs are hardest to match and lead times hurt most.
  • For lighting sales reps, corporate procurement teams and electrical contractors in Canada.

The four stages

  1. Spec. Upload a specification section, a fixture schedule, a BOM or IES files. SuppLux extracts every fixture type, quantity, mounting, lumen output, CCT, CRI, voltage, driver and control requirement into one structured record. A 400-line schedule becomes data you can filter and query instead of a PDF you scroll.
  2. Match. Each line is matched to verified products. Where the specified product is unavailable, slow or over budget, SuppLux proposes alternates and shows exactly which attributes match and which differ. How spec matching works →
  3. Quote & submittal. The approved set becomes a line-by-line quote and a submittal package: cover sheet, schedule cross-reference, cut sheets with the selected options, photometric files, driver and control sheets. What goes into a submittal →
  4. Deliver. SuppLux places the orders with its supplier network, tracks production and freight, and coordinates delivery to site. One record follows the job from the first document to the last fixture.

Why a managed marketplace, not another spreadsheet

Commercial lighting procurement usually runs through a chain of hand-offs: the specifier writes the schedule, a rep or distributor re-keys it into a quote, someone else hunts down cut sheets for the submittal, and substitutions get argued over email. Every re-key is a chance to lose a lens option or a driver requirement.

SuppLux keeps the whole job in one record. The same structured line that was parsed from the spec is the line that gets matched, quoted, submitted and ordered, so a change made at one stage shows up at every later stage.

Step Typical manual process With SuppLux
Reading the spec Re-keying the fixture schedule into Excel Parsed automatically into structured lines
Finding products Searching catalogues and asking manufacturers Matched to verified products, alternates ranked
Checking alternates Comparing cut sheets side by side Attribute-by-attribute comparison per line
Submittal Collecting and marking up cut sheets by hand Package assembled from the matched set
Revisions Redo the quote and the submittal Change the line once; quote and submittal follow
Delivery Separate purchase orders and status emails One order record tracked to site

Built for custom linear lighting

Most commercial fixtures can be matched on a handful of attributes. Custom linear lighting cannot: run lengths, corners, mounting, optics, lumen packages, drivers and controls all interact, and a mistake is expensive because the product is made to order. That is why SuppLux started with linear lighting and why it is the core of our supplier network. See custom linear lighting for the categories we supply.

Who uses it

  • Lighting sales reps turn incoming specs into quotes and submittals faster, and source custom linear products they do not carry.
  • Procurement teams standardize fixtures and pricing across multiple sites and buildings.
  • Electrical contractors get a complete bid package, approved alternates and delivery coordinated to the schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Is SuppLux software or a supplier?

Both, which is what “managed marketplace” means. The platform does the spec reading, matching, quoting and submittal work; SuppLux also sources and supplies the matched products through its supplier network and manages delivery. You deal with one party from spec to site.

What file types can I upload?

Specification sections and fixture schedules as PDF, bills of materials as Excel or CSV, and photometric files (IES). Drawing sets can be sent too; a specialist will take the schedule from them.

Do I have to accept the AI's match?

No. Every line shows the specified product, the proposed match and any alternates side by side with the attributes that were compared. You choose, and nothing goes into a quote or submittal until a person has checked it.

Which regions do you serve?

SuppLux supplies commercial projects across Canada.

Send us the spec. We will do the matching.

Upload a fixture schedule, a spec section or a drawing set. You get a line-by-line match, alternates and a quote back from a person who knows lighting.
